The Chief Minister’s Leadership in Education and Development (CMLEAD) Fellowship is a state-led initiative by the Government of Meghalaya aimed at strengthening the implementation of key education priorities.
Designed as an immersive leadership fellowship, the programme brings together young professionals to work at the forefront of education system transformation. Fellows are placed across 12 districts in Meghalaya, where they work closely with government departments such as Samagra Shiksha, DERT, and district education offices to support the design, coordination, and rollout of priority initiatives focused on improving student learning outcomes.

Design and monitor Learning Enhancement Programs focused on improving student outcomes.
Work closely with education departments and bridge academic planning with field implementation.
Gain exposure to governance systems while working alongside senior government officials.
The CMLEAD Fellowship follows a transparent multi-stage selection process designed to identify motivated young professionals committed to strengthening public education systems in Meghalaya.
Submit CV, Statement of Purpose and assignment through the official portal.
Applications screened based on eligibility, experience and alignment.
Interaction with the Department of Education and partner organisations.
Final selection based on overall suitability and programme fit.
A Government of Meghalaya initiative that places young professionals within district education systems to support implementation of key education reforms.
One Fellow will be posted in each administrative district of Meghalaya based on programme requirements.
The Fellowship is initially for 12 months and may be extended up to 24 months based on performance.
Fellows receive ₹60,000 per month along with additional travel and communication allowances.
Yes. Fellows receive structured induction, continuous capacity-building, mentorship, and peer learning support.
No. Prior experience in education is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates from development, governance, and allied sectors are encouraged to apply.
